Essential for Medical Candidates
1. Medical Qualification
A candidate must possess a medical qualification
included in Schedule I, II, or Part II of the Third Schedule of
the Indian
Medical Council Act, 1956.
(Note: Those holding
qualifications under Part II of the Third Schedule must
additionally satisfy the conditions stipulated in Section 13(3) of
the Act.)
2. Postgraduate Qualification
A recognized postgraduate degree, such as MD/MS or
an equivalent qualification in the respective discipline or subject, is
required.
AND/OR
3. Super Specialization
For surgical super-specialties, an M.Ch. degree
(2-year, 3-year, or 5-year recognized course) is mandatory. For medical
super-specialties, a D.M. degree (similarly structured) or an
equivalent recognized qualification is essential.
Experience Requirements
For MD/MS (or equivalent) holders:
Fourteen years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized
institution within the relevant specialty, accrued after obtaining the
qualifying degree.
For M.Ch./D.M. (2-year or 5-year post-MBBS course)
holders:
Twelve years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution
within the relevant specialty, following the acquisition of the degree.
For M.Ch./D.M. (3-year course) holders:
Eleven years of teaching and/or research experience in a recognized institution
within the relevant specialty, subsequent to obtaining the degree.
Essential Criteria for Non-Medical Candidates
1. Educational Qualifications
A postgraduate degree (e.g., Master’s) in the discipline
or an allied subject is required, along with a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from
a recognized university in the concerned discipline.
2. Experience
Fourteen years of teaching and/or research experience in the relevant discipline, accumulated after earning the Doctorate degree.

Qualifications

years of
teaching/research experience in a recognized institution after obtaining D.M./M.Ch. (2-year
or 5-year post-MBBS course) or equivalent.
